Be sure to check your credit card coverage as well as your personal car insurance to determine how much insurance you may want to purchase from the rental company. If the car is deemed "out of service", you can be held responsible for lost revenue to the rental company.

Some rental car companies have begun imposing a modest fee on customers who want to collect frequent-flier miles, while others are considering doing the same. And one company is thinking about pulling out of some airline frequent-flier programs altogether.
Some frequent business travelers expressed frustration that they would have to pay for a program that was initially created to attract new customers.

Although the general perception is that a "credit card" check card is accepted anywhere the credit card is, many rental car companies do not accept them in order to rent a car. They may accept them for payment at the end of the rental, but they probably will not accept them at the beginning of the rental.
