Kool Kat Island This is a tour and a cache rolled into one. Dust off your Indiana Jones hat, grab your camera and GPSer and lets get started. It starts at the civic plaza in front of Puerto Vallarta's famous cathedral, takes you past a couple of geocaches that are listed at geocaching.com, then an easy walk down the malecon and a shaded walk through a corner of the Southside area (also known as the Zona Romantica). The walk, and finding the cache shouldn't take more than an hour. There is a bonus coordinate in the cache, which can add another 10 minutes to an hour (as much time as you need) to the fun. You will never be more than .3 miles from your start point, so relax -- you won't get lost. Take pictures along the way -- the bonus is just a photo opportunity. Have fun! There are loads of great taco stands within a few minutes walk, so take a look at our Southside Taco Tour. I am hoping to include more items in-town, but just have to find the time to get back. |

Virgin on a Halfshell The Virgin on a Halfshell cache is out of town, about 20 miles south of town. It is very close to the fabulous Botanical Gardens. The Gardens are closed on Mondays. This cache (as usual) isn't hard to find. The adventure is what we are here for! Also (as usual) the cache has a bonus inside. So you have to visit to find out. A great place for the kids, and a wonderful (off the beaten path) place to discover Mexico outside the tourist towns. Bring your camera, because there is a great deal to see. I would allocate a half-day to visit this cache. I imagine that this cache could be linked with the El Tweeto cache. The busses are always running (during the day). |

El Tweeto This cache is just another opportunity to get out of the big city and see something the other tourists never see, Located in the small town of El Tuito, (which is about an hour south of Puerto Vallarta by bus) This beautiful and friendly place welcomes visitors. There are plenty of historic places, shops and restaurants to pass a lazy afternoon. The cache is a tupperware container, and has plenty of trinkets for trade. This cache is not officially sanctioned by geocaching.com, so please don't bring any travel bugs geocoins or other items that need to be registered -- geocaching.com won't be able to register them. This trip will take a little more than half a day, but certainly will give cruise ship cachers plenty of time to knock around Puerto Vallarta's downtown section. |
If you have a list of GPS coordinates for this area, please feel free to send them to anchornm@yahoo.com
If you can include any pictures or descriptions that you think will help - GREAT!.
This is just a hobby site, so it may take a bit for me to find time to update things, so be patient.
Be sure to stop at Geocaching.com for lots of Geocaches, Virtual Caches, Letterboxing, Waymarking, and other GPS fun.
