Meatyocrity "Animals are our friends" is a popular decree Repeated to young minds trapped in the educational melee, And as with all such modern relationships formed by insidious presumption, Covertly prepared with all the trimmings requisite for the convenience of conspicuous consumption; Such carnal knowledge imparted to innocent minds with the noblest of intentions, Forms the basis for the further acceptance of countless social circumlocutions; Those Orwellian double-thinking adepts from fictional 1984, Pale beside the irrational intricacy of the contemporary pseudo-carnivore, Convinced from birth to death that life is merely here to take, And of course the sanction of supreme deity is the frosting on the cake The agendas hidden amongst the plates and platters of the average American family table, Rival those piled up in mounds about the National Security Administration stable, When denial is the basis of everything we do Corruption assails the feet within those highly polished shoes, And as the burden of ever-escalating complexity sets the torso tottering, The mouth gasps desperately for breath enough to drive its compensatory mutterings; With arms thrashing wildly in the surrounding space The hands seek the solace of a firm and solid place To blindly hang on to through the torment of doubt As the mind longs to escape from within and without Such is the alarming state of the once noble body politic, When disease is paraded as robust health and healing people are viewed as sick; The whys and wherefores of this state of affairs Lie in the act of contemplating animals puzzled stares, For they feel it in the very sinews with which their bones enmesh Those naked monkey bastards are gleefully lusting after their flesh... aszsa
