"Give Us Masthead Until We're Dead"

In the televised words of military anal-ist Paul Vallely, this is a "fly fox-over" indeed, a classic display of "military intelligence" that has infected the major news networks from stem cell to stern face. This witless for the persecution is spinning madly in a mass grave of its own digging. In this devolving onslaught against Principle and Reason, masking a base and mendacious exchange of human blood for oil, the truth that should be setting us free is being trampled to death in the mass stampede for the exits. Once you factor in the billions of dollars we will pay for this "action" alone, not to mention all the other wars being anticipated, the price for "cheap" gasoline is astronomical and ultimately unaffordable. Our infamous "too partly" system has finally plowed in Big Time, in one fell swoop of a Patriot Act, and the Fox we have left in charge of the chickenhouse is pulling the wool shorn from our sheepish hides over our myopic eyes. "Billions for Offense!" Then trillions, then...?

The Democans and the Republicrats, two farts that bleat as one, are so hopelessly and helplessly mired in the corporate greed and intrigue of global domination that even the Constitution itself has now been gutted and left for dead. This B-grade Western script is so tired and hackneyed as to be laughable were it not for the wholesale destruction of life and integrity posing vapidly as a War on Terrorism (read "Everything"), playing out mercilessly behind the sanitized scenes flickering on our screens, ironically screening us from reality. We know the plot so well, throw the brave-but-weak citizens guns, then shoot them in "you all saw him, he had a gun"self-defense to instill fear and compliance among the smoldering rank-and-file mutely opposed to the unfolding corruption of power and obstruction of justice. It is important for us to remember who was wearing the symbolic black hat in these reworked morality plays.

A recent graphic satire depicts Dubya as the "If I Only Had a Brain" Scarecrow, along with what I assumed to be Ashcroft as the "If I Only Had a Heart" Tin Woodsman. If we are to follow the analogy to its logical conclusion, then major network media should be represented as the Cowardly Lyin', and the American People as the naive Dorothy who possesses the Ruby Slippers that will take us home again if we are willing to "click" to what is going on. We are purported to be among the wealthiest, most educated, progressive nations on Earth, and yet we have allowed an inept businessman and moral leper to rush our nation headlong to the brink of destruction. Go figurehead. The responsibility for this "Madness of King George" rests squarely on the shoulders of the American People, and it behooves us to remedy this grave illness as rapidly as possible, for the sake of humanity, decency, and a sustainable future. One thing is for dead sure, we're not in Kansas any more. I should know, I was born there...
