Hedeby Boot or Haithabu shoe

Picture of Hedeby shoe

The Hedeby boot is derived from the "Stepping through Time, Archaeological Footwear from Prehistoric Times until 1800" and is classified as a Thong Fastening (type 10).  Found in Germany and dating from 11th  and 12th centuries, it is representative of many similar types of shoes dating from 900 to 1460.  The later the period, the lower the social class of the wearer. The Hedeby  shoe or boot  is the perfect generic Medieval or Dark Ages shoe.

The pattern of the shoe is almost exact, with a few minor changes for modern comfort.  Each of these shoes is made of 3 to 4 oz cow hide leather or equivalent, comes with artificial mid-soles, crepe soles, all sewing is machine overstitched, and the top edge is hand whip stitched with linen thread.  This shoe is always in stock! The Hedeby Shoe is not recommended for fighting or wild activity.

Available for Men and Women, the Hedeby shoe is available in custom sizes and colors for $245.

The Viking Jorvik Boot

The pattern of the shoe is almost exact, with a few minor changes for modern comfort.  Each of these shoes is made of 3 to 4 oz top grain cow hide leather or equivalent, artificial mid-soles, crepe soles, all sewing is machine overstitched, and the toggles are held by slit hole in the side of the shoe.
