Hedeby Boot or Haithabu shoe
The Hedeby boot is derived from the "Stepping through Time,
Archaeological Footwear from Prehistoric Times until 1800" and is
classified as a Thong Fastening (type 10). Found in Germany and
dating from 11th and 12th centuries, it is representative of many
similar types of shoes dating from 900 to 1460. The later the
period, the lower the social class of the wearer. The Hedeby shoe
or boot is the perfect generic
Medieval
shoe.
The pattern of the shoe is almost exact, with a few minor changes for
modern comfort. Each of these shoes is made of 3 to 4 oz
cow hide leather or equivalent, comes with artificial mid-soles, crepe soles,
all sewing is machine overstitched, and the top edge is hand whip
stitched with linen thread. This shoe is almost always in
stock! The Hedeby Shoe is not recommended for fighting or wild activity.

The Viking Jorvik Boot

The Jorvik shoe or "York shoe" is also from "Stepping through Time,
Archaeological Footwear from Prehistoric Times until 1800" and is
similar to the Dorestad shoe and is classified as an Overlap Closure
(type 20). Found on both the British Island and the European Continent
dates from the 9th and 10th centuries. The Viking Jorvik Boot is
the best representation of Dark Ages footwear.
The pattern of the shoe is almost exact, with a few minor changes for
modern comfort. Each of these shoes is made of 3 to 4 oz top grain
cow hide leather or equivalent, artificial mid-soles, crepe soles, all sewing is
machine overstitched, and the toggles are held by laces looped through
holes in the side of the shoe. This shoe is almost always in
stock!

14th Century Poulaine Type .4
Found in "Shoes and Pattens" by
the Museum of London and "Stepping Through Time" by Olaf Goubitz, Carol
van Driel-Murry and Willy Groenman-van Waateringe this shoe is common
nobles shoe for the 14th Century. There are five different length of point as
described in "Shoes and Pattens", 0 being a rounded toe and .5 being
grossly exaggeratedly long points. The 14th Century Poulaine,
Poulain, or pike-toed shoe is a
great
medieval shoe.
The poulaine is constructed of 2.5 to 3 oz top-grain cowhide leather, brass
buckles, crepe sole, artificial mid-soles, and all sewing is
machine overstitched. The poulaine should not be used for fighting.

Mary Rose Shoe
Based
on shoes found in the Tudor era shipwreck, the Mary Rose, and on many
shoes pictured in "Stepping through Time," The Mary Rose shoe is
representative of men's shoes worn about 1530 to 1600 and is the perfect
Tudor or
renaissance shoe. This shoe
features a laced closure and a square toe as well as hard rubber heel.
The Mary Rose Shoe is constructed of 2.5 to 3 oz top-grain cowhide
leather,
leather laces, crepe sole, artificial mid-soles, hard rubber
heel, and all sewing is machine overstitched. This shoe is always in stock!
