In Ft. Sumner, NM, Billy the Kid's gravesite was vandalized on or about the night of Oct. 1 or the following early morning. The tombstone "PALS" was left alone, the graves were not damaged. The other "regular" flowers were not touched. The coins (including many quarters) were not taken. The vandals only objective to cut through 3 locks was to disturb the flowers that were placed on Billy's grave on Sept. 27th, 2004. No leads, but one area resident was overheard saying, "It's those damn, Brushy Bill Texans!"
