[3103] Described as having a medium build, black beard, and a slight wound of the forehead. At the famous battle of Acoma, January 23, 1599, he accidentally shot his bosom partner-in-arms, Lorenzo Salado de Ribadeneira. In 1603 he escorted four friars from Mexico City to San Gabriel. During Governor Peralta's term, 1610-1614, he acted as an ecclesiastical notary and was thus involved in many a fracas which resulted in a strong anti-Peralta faction composed of Archuleta's relatives "of whom there were many."
