[99407] Edward first enlisted for service in the American Revolution in King William's County,Virginia. He served in 1777 and 1778 under Captain Quales in the marines on the Brig "Liberty", lying in the York River. He was in this service for about one year and in 1778 the company transferred to land service under Col. Carrington of the 7th Regiment and he served two years as a private soldier. He again entered the Service of the United States in 1781 by being drafted for eighteen months in the County of Buckingham,Virginia. He was later discharged by his Commanding Officer.
