Karen Daniel searched the baptismal records of San Juan de los Caballeros for MAB/MYV's children
in 2006, to determine if the grandparents were named in the records. She found 5 children but
no grandparents were named.
She also searched the death records of San Juan de Los Caballeros (San Juan Pueblo, Rio Arriba
county NM) AASF#37 and 38, 1817 through 1843. No death was found for Miguel in these records.
no other death records for this time period have been filmed for parishes in Rio Arriba county.

When she asked Robin Collier, webmaster of the Center for Land Grant Studies, concerning the Embudo grant, he emailed her that no Britos were in those records, but that the 1729-1734 San Juan baptismal records show Cordova, Lujan, Marquez, Martin, Martin-Serrano, Vialpando, Romero, Vasquez, & Vigil surnames; later records thru 1739 add the surnames of Abeyta, Suazo, Trujillo, & Valdez.
MAB's age was given as 36 in the 1816 census of Embudo; his wife was 24 and her name was given as Maria Ygnacia Barela.
Sources: a Curandura healer, an old woman, in Taos (Cirilia Tafoya) that Mike stayed with in 1946 when he was sick had the geneaology of 8 brothers named BRITO who came from Spain or Portugal to Mexico and then to the USA, possibly thru Tiajuana; another story says the Britos came to Portugal and Spain from Breat Britain about the 10th century. They take the name from a land in the North of Portugal; they are one of the most ancient Portuguese families.
Did they come to Embudo from Santa Fe, Albuquerque, El Paso, or somewhere in Mexico (Puebla?) with a mission supply train?

Was he named for his uncle who went to Ecuador?
He worked for Union Pacific RR most of his life.
[173498] They got a divorce and then remarried a year or so later in Elkhorn, , Nevada. In the 1950's Mike was their best man.
