OBIT:
After a prolonged illness lasting a period of years Mrs. Elena Galaz died at her Home in San Lorenzo Saturday June 18, 1932 at 9:30 am. Surviving were a brother, Lauro Cordova, and a daughter Elena, and five sons.
Mrs. Galas was a descendant of an old Spanish family "de Cordova". Her grandfather Jose Mari de Cordova was a man who owned considerable property around El Paseo Del Norte Juarez. Her father Juan Cordova married Ms. Ramona Carbajal and moved to Socorro, Texas where Elena was born in 1872. A few years later, her parents moved to Mesilla, New Mexico where she was a student at the convent. Her family lived in Mesilla for about eight years and them moved to Georgetown, New Mexico which was a booming mining town. In 1886 or 1887 she married Gorgonio Galaz, a business man in Georgetown and in 1893 they moved to San Lorenzo where they made their home permanently.
The funeral services were held June 19 at 3:00pm at San Lorenzo with Father G.(?) officiating. The large crowd gathered to pay homage to the deceased. It was a clear example of the esteem in which she is held. The family of the deceased wishes to express their appreciation for the respect paid to their beloved mother and from the bottom of their hearts wish to thank the many friends who came to express their grief at her passing.
