[45254] Amanda, a g-grandmother of Marlin Aker Jr., was the daughter of James Duvall and Tamsey Barker. Another Amanda Duvall, age 28, is listed as living in the home of Nancy Gentry age 72, household 108. This may be the same Amanda J., born 22 March 1841 who died 9 March 1926 and is buried in Ashe County, North Carolina, cemetery code G01.
[45258] At the time of her death, Amanda was living on the ranch near Lordsburg. It is suspected that she was buried in Lordsburg, possibly near her daughter in law, Olive May Harper Aker, as there are several unmarked graves in that location. The town records show at least 6 Aker burials in the Mountain View cemetery. J.L. Aker, (Joseph Little Aker), Mother Aker (likely Amanda Aker), Aker twins (maybe the children of Edward Aker and Ada) and an Aker infant (possibly child of Wiley and Rae).
[141712] According to the 1870 census, likely taken early in the year, Amanda and Joshua (Joseph) were each living with their parents, two households apart. The existing marriage records of Ashe County do not contain their marriage. Some of the Ashe records are known to be have been either burned or stolen and are thus incomplete.
