Juan Fresco came to NM about 1617 with two other Flemish men. In 1625 he said he was Flemish, 55 years old and a miner by trade. The name evoled to Fresquez. There was a Juan Fresqui, Captain, who was Alcalde Mayor of Isleta [in New Mexico]; he died by 1667. There are no adult male Fresquis in the 1680-81 Pueblo Revolt lists, however, there were several people after the Reconquest with this name. This gives proof that some minor children or grandchildren of his escaped the Indian massacre.
Pedro Fresqui, son of Francisco Fresqui, was a soldier of Guadalupe del Paso in 1719. He married Micaela de Archuleta in 1712 at Socorro del Paso.
