Mom has green eyes and stands approximately 5 feet tall. She is known as Jane.
Mom, was born in 7 Mile Plaza, but it was also known as Los Valdez's .It is also known as La Jareta. It appears that Sam and his wife Galvina Valdez were the first settlers in the area. That is why it is was called Los Valdez's. She was born in Rio Grande County, Colorado. This area is approximately 9 miles east of Del Norte, Colorado.
Mom reported that at age 10 she was employed picking potatoes. At age 15 she, her sister Dolores and a cousin lived in a hotel in Monte Vista, Colorado. They were employed there as maids. The got wages and room. They again were employed picking potatoes. This is when she met her future father-in-law and his son Leo. Again at age 15 she then worked at the Triangel Motel in Monte Vista as a housekeeper, again she received room and wages. She lived at this motel by her self. At approximately age 16, she went to Denver, Colorado. She was employed as a housekeeper for a private family. She lived with her cousin Abey and his wife Lupe. Later she worked at a produce company. When she left Denver the produce company never paid her , her last wages. She then moved to El Rito, New Mexico. There she lived with her sister Lupe and her husband Susano Trujillo. Mom reports this is the time period when she met dad, (Alberto Archuleta). She stated that he ran down a hill to open a car door for her, she states he thought she was a cousin of his. When he realized she was not who he thought she was, he did not speak to her. During this time period he was in the CC camp and later joined the Army. Mom stated that she did not see him until his honorable discharge from the Army. It appears that while dad was doing guard duty, his gun accidently went off, shooting the digit next to the big toe. When she saw him again, it was in Monte Vista, Colorado. Where his family introduced her to dad. They dated for 14 days and married. At this time mom was engaged to another man who was in Denver, Colorado. My parents were married in Del Norte , Colorado on December 28, 1944 at the Holy Mary Catholic Church.
She had a sixth grade education. She went to school in Del Norte, Colorado. Mom can out spell anyone. But her math skills are not so good. She left school for employment. Mom has adult sugar diabetes, she is on pills for this condition. She also has high blood pressure and takes medication for a thyroid problem. Her thyroid was surgical removed in 1999.
