Caroline Virginia Emmett Otero, belonged to a family well and favorably known, both in Las Vegas, New Mexico and in St. Paul, Minnesota, their original home. Her father, Judge Lafayette Emmett, had been chief justice of the Supreme Court of Minnesota for a period of nine years, and was held in the highest respect by the citizens of that state.
The wedding between Miguel Otero II and Caroline Virginia Emmett, took place in the St. Paul's Episcopal Church on December l9, l888, according to the Las Vegas New Mexico Optic.
