[12623] Upon the death of Francisco, Monica and her children became the owners of the ranch. They minted brass coins in denominations ranging from one cent to one dollar and another coin, "one sheep" which was the pay for shearing one sheep. All coins were inscribed with: "Mrs. Francisco Gallegos & Sons, Gallegos, New Mex." The coins could be spent in the ranch stores or traded for silver money. The ranch was sold outside of the Gallegos family in 1975.
[12622] Her will provided funds to rebuild and refurnish the church at Gallegos which was damaged by a twister in 1909. She specified that it be built over her and her husband's graves and that her children and their spouses be buried there also. Francisco, Monica, Filiberto, Eufracio, Delfinia and Carolina and Sara all rest there. The chapel is owned by the Archdiocese of Santa Fe and the current owners of the Gallegos ranch have provided access to the chapel and area to the family.
