[141929] A great deal of mystery surrounds this family. Lydia was disowned in 1856 by the Quakers in Indiana for marriage out of unity (MOU). A Harper family with the husband's first name not shown is listed on the 1860, Dallas County, Iowa census. The mother, Orlena, born 1829 in Ohio, is shown with children George A., David S., Francis Marion and Eli Brown. Francis Marion Harper married Charlotte Toney and they were the parents of Olive Mae Harper. Family records of Lydia's descendants show her son, Frank (Francis?) Harper, married to Lottie (Charlotte?) Harper. It seems highly likely that Francis and Frank are the same man even though the recorded birthdays are amiss. Was Orlena the same as Lydia? Were Lydia and Orlena sisters married to the same James Madison Harper or to Harper brothers? There is indication that at least some of James Madison's children were raised as LDS, was James LDS?
