At the time of her death, her legal heirs of her estate were all over the age of 21 years and named as follows: Guadalupe Otero, Jose Antonio Otero, Francisco A. Otero, Lorenzo Otero and Juan Chaves y Herrera. Whole property belonging to her estate was apprasied at $4313.25. Her appraisement of land included, 160 acres of patented land at Patos Lincoln County, New Mexico at $10 per acre. One residence house including rooms and stables at $100 and improvements in the land of $50.00. Other items in her estate included, 1,453 head of sheep at one dollar per head; 70 head of goats at one dollar per head; 1 mule for $25.00; 2 asses at five dollars per head; 22 chickens at 25 cents per head; 1 old wagon at $15.00; 1 old ambulance at $10.00; 1 carraige at $100; 24 ram buck at $2 per head; 2 buck goats at $2 per head; 1 new water pump at $20; 2 sheds, 1 hoe, 1 wheelbarrow and 1 broom at $4; 1 cooking stove, home and comfort and all its outfit at $66; crockery ware at $10; Cristal ware at $2; 1 brass lamp at $1.25; set of kitchen dishes at $5; furniture of the outside room at $150; furniture of the inside room $200; 1new pair of harnesses at $25; 2 old pair of harnesses at $8 each; 1 ranch outfit at $2; 3 bronze bowls at 50 cents each. All of these items totaled at ($3, 993.25) Other articles included, dresses, wearing jewel goods and gold earrings worth $200 and 4 horses at $30 per head, which brought all of her estate to be worth, $4,313.25. Both her second husband, Juan Chaves y Trujillo and her son, Guadalupe Otero were appointed administrators of her estate. Her sons, Juan Chaves y Hererra, Lorenzo Otero and Jose Antonio Otero each received $162.56 from her estate, but her other son, Franciso Otero y Hererra stated that he was satisfied on his part and had nothing to do with the estate of her mother, Maria Gertrudis Herrera y Chaves and signed it March 3, 1895, White Oaks, New Mexico. The estate does not disclose if her other son Guadalupe Otero, co-administrator of her estate received any money or anything of value.
