[10626] Passed with six very lean horses,, unfit for service, a sword, a dagger, a leather jacket, an harquebus, and a shield. He was robed of all his property by the emeny. He declared that of his family, he was bringing four daughters, two sons, and a female servant. He signed, Francisco Xavier, alcalde ordinario de primer voto.
[10627] He stated he was a widower with a child of 3 or 4 years. When he departed for Nueva España he left her with relatives who later brougth her to New Mexico with the Reconquest. She was Josefa Xavier, "orphan and poor," wo married Luis Garcia at Bernalillo in Aug. 1704.

Josefa was living in Bernalillo prior to her marriage. In his will, Luis names his first wife, mother of Rosalia, as Josefa Valverde. Was her full name Josefa Valverde Xavier? It appears she was raised by a Valverde family
