Victoria was born to Jose and Seferina Trujillo. Uncle Felix Archuleta reports that at a young age she was adopted by a childless couple. The first name of the husband is known to be "Santos". His last name may be Salinas. It is reported that she was raised in El Rito, New Mexico.
It appears that her adopted parents bought some property in Ojo Caliente, New Mexico. Felix reports the property was approximately 9 acres. which was located between the Rio Arriba County line and the Taos County line, but generally in Ojo Caliente, New Mexico. It is reported by Felix, her son, that only 3 acres had irrigation so only these acres were used. My sister Betty remembers a lot of fruit trees on this land. Felix states this statement is true. They grew vegetables on this part of the land. In 1998, I (Patsy D. Archuleta) went to see the house. Only a 1 and 1/2 walls were standing. The property was then located on the main highway to Espanola. At the adopted parent's death, Victoria inherited the property. At Victoria's death her son Felix inherited this land. He sold it in 1964 and moved to Monte Vista, Colorado.
She only married once. Jose Gregorio Archuleta and her raised all their children on this property. She died in this home of Tuberculosis in 1941. At the time of her death, her husband was force to find employment in Monte Vista, Colorado. He and my father picked potatoes and lived in Monte Vista. Her son Felix remained behind and cared for until her death. Some of Felix's children were born in this home.. She is buried at a Ojo Caliente (private) cemetery on the same highway the house was located.
