Cancer Prayer Service

The Cancer Prayer Service is held in the church on the first Sunday of every month at 6:30 PM.

There will be the Sacrament of Anointing for all those who are undergoing tests for cancer, those afflicted with cancer, and those who have had cancer. We have scripture readings, prayer, homily directed towards the spiritual needs of our cancer victums, hymns, including our theme song "Your Faith has Healed You." We pray together the Novena to St. Michael of the Saints.

Relatives and friends are urged to come and pray with us for all those on our list and for those who are close to them. During the service we provide cards for people to fill out to add names of their loved ones to our Cancer Prayer List. Each month during the service we read aloud a portion of the names.

In November of each year, Fr. McCarren has a Mass, in place of our usual Prayer Service, which is offered for all the deceased on our Cancer Prayer List.

This ministry was initiated by Fr. Bill McCarren in 1991. Originally all members of the ministry were requested to pray the novena to St. Michael of the Saints every day for all of the cancer victims on our list. Father then began a prayer service on the first Sunday of every month which is still active today.
