You know what you want
At one wedding reception, the
mother of the bride requested the music be turned down extremely low because
the grandmother, who had trouble hearing under normal circumstances, was
sitting near a speaker and had difficulty hearing. The DJ complied and
the music was turned down so low to accommodate the host, the DJ could
hear the conversations half way across the room.
Our procedure is to play music
at a volume for the guests farthest away to hear, while the guests closest
to the speakers can have a conversation without having to talk over the
music. There are times, where the host wants the music louder or softer.
The final decision is the host's.
At a high school rally, the DJ
had to turn the sound of the microphone and the music up loud enough for
3000 screaming fans to hear them.
