DJ Claims:
"One DJ in the Yellow Pages said
he had over a million songs. You say you have over 23,000 songs.
How do we know what to believe?"
JJK: You're the second person
telling me this. Remember, a Yellow Pages ad doesn't make a company legit.
The same goes for those who offer to charge less than anyone else —
you get what you pay for. I hear many stories about so-called DJ's who
promise a lot for a lower price and, if they show up, bring their home
stereo system and are very unprofessional. In the case you're mentioning,
it sounds like you've hit rock bottom. If you're interested, ask to see
his CD collection (if he has 20 songs per CD, he'll need 50,000 CD's!).
If he turns out to be legit, please e-mail me again so I can see this guy
and, of course, I'll have to stop advertising that I have the most songs.
Oh, by the way, you can see our CD collection to back up our claim.
Why aren't you as famous:
"I have heard of xxx DJ service
but not yours. Why aren't you as well known?"
JJK: That's an easy one. First,
the DJ service you mentioned has been handling a lot of school dances for
many years whereas we've focused more of our attention on the private parties.
We have found that students at school dances tend to remember who we are
more than those who attend a private party. Second, we choose to usually
perform one show at a time so we can ensure all our efforts go to that
customer, whereas the other DJ service performs several shows at a time,
giving them more exposure. Being more well known doesn't mean they're the
best DJ service. Based on what customers have told me, there are a couple
of DJ's with better shows. Those who have been to our show and those of
the more well known DJ's, have stated we're the best and most professional,
and since I haven't seen many other DJ's, I'll have to take their word
for it.
High School Reunion:
"We went to my high school reunion
and the DJ didn't have any of our songs from high school. They only had
the usual ones I hear in clubs on oldies night. It would have been alright
if it was just a dance at any club but this was my high school reunion."
JJK: This is why we bring so
much music to a dance. We can bring the standard songs, such as your DJ
apparently brought, but since we don't know what your special songs are,
we bring a lot more so we'll have a better chance of making you happy.
It makes our DJ's happy when they see the excitement of a guest who hears
their request.
New Year's Eve Party:
"At the beginning of a New Year's
Eve party at (local location), I wrote down several songs and asked one
of the DJ's if he could play any of them. He assured me they had them all
and would play one of them. Apparently, this DJ company was doing two shows
in the hotel (one for us, who had paid for dinner, and one for the hotel
guests, who just wanted to dance). Not only did they keep changing DJ's,
some being trained right in front of us, between the two shows but they
didn't keep track of what each played. A couple of songs were played three
to four times. Although I had made the same request at least once every
hour and was assured they would play at least one, by the time the party
had ended, none of my songs were played. Yes, the dance floor was full
most of the time but I paid for the dinner and dance too and was treated
like dirt. They lied to me. I felt as though the hotel was just concerned
with making money and not with making our night special so we've never
gone back - I'm sure at
no loss to the hotel."
JJK: There are a couple of problems
here that we avoid. First, we try to play as many requests as possible
so everyone feels special. We won't tell someone we'll play a song when
we can't. That is very insulting. Second, we've kept the same DJ's for
twelve years, so you won't see anyone getting trained at your party. Third,
we try not to play the same group more than once, especially the same song,
unless instructed by our host or requested by several guests.
