I have to brag on this one, everybody, so bear with me :o)

I got an e-mail 4 days ago telling me of a telethon that the local cable
company and local arts council were planning for this weekend to raise money
for the Red Cross. In one 12-hour day we raised over 228,000 dollars
for the Red Cross, and 1,000 of that was because of me! I said I would make
them a quilt to auction off, and used to pattern for the "God Bless" quilt
that was shared here last week. I spent 3 days furiously cutting and
appliqueing it, stayed up till 1 am last night and got up at 530 today to finish
it, and made it to the TV studio by 9 am as I promised. I have never done
anything as quickly, certainly not something with this much hand work and
applique anyway! There were 2 ladies fighting over it at the end in a silent
auction, but one couldn't go higher than 580.00, so she asked the chairwoman
at the show if I could make her another quilt with the same pattern for the
final price that she had bid, which was 560.00. I said yes, so that was
1140.00 from just 2 quilts!!! Now to get back to cutting and sewing another
quilt together for her- I asked to have until next Saturday so I have a
>little< more time to do it. I'm so excited about how well it did- I had sort of
hoped for it to make around 200.00, I had no idea it would raise so much.
Actually, I'll cut out the fabric for 2 more quilts- I'd like to have one for
myself, and I certainly can't afford to buy one at these prices :o)

Oh, and the lady who wants it so much is planning on presenting it to a
local Fire Fighters academy to hang in thier front hall. I'm going to ask
to go with her to give it to them.
