I received information via newsletters about the
blocks they were needing for the quilt. Because of the
children seeing the news I thought it would be nice
for them to do something positive about things. With
our school principal's wonderful rapid response to the
suggestion, and support from lots on the school staff,
we started a school project.

Our grade school, Garfield elementary in Ponca City Oklahoma, is well on the way to having about 13 lap quilt size quilts ready to send. The children have been wonderful!!!! They are designing their blocks, transferring the images to
white muslin, using crayons to color the designs in.
Their designs are just so wonderful!!! We have 6 tops
sewn together now and by the end of the weekend should
have all the tops ready to assemble. This was possible
by the all the hard work of the children, and staff.
Their designs just bring tears they are so wonderful.
They are doing, hearts, stars, flags, bears,
comforting things. It really shows what can happen
when everyone pulls together.
