The mamo bird was one of the most sought after birds in the Hawaiian Islands. Its yellow feathers were used to make the beautiful Hawaiian capes, helmets and feather leis of the Hawaiian royalty. This bird even though extinct today lives on in the memories and quilts of the Hawaiian people.
