Prairie Point  Borders
Prairie Point borders are very easy to do and can add a pleasing finish to many quilts. The following will give you the basics on adding a Prairie Point border to your quilt. You will need to experiment a bit to get the size you want for your quilt. A good way to get an idea is to cut some squares of paper and fold them as shown below until you get the desired size for your quilt. A good size for a full bed size quilt would be a 5" square.

Following the diagrams at the left fold your square of fabric, pressing with an iron as you go.
Place the prairie point around the top edge of your quilt as shown at left overlapping by slipping each a bit inside the fold of the point next to it. You will need to lay your quilt out so you can space the points evenly around the quilt and pin in place. Sew the points in place, sewing through just the top and the batting. (Be sure not to sew through the backing of your quilt.)
Fold prairie points out as shown. On back side of quilt fold under raw edge of backing fabric and stitch down all around the quilt. Your Prairie Point border is now complete.
