The Isotopes blew a four-run lead in the game when the Reno Aces (AAA Diamondbacks) plated five runs in the 5th inning to take the lead and after Albuquerque tied up the game late, it did not take the Aces very long to take the lead in extra innings and claim a 7-6 extra inning victory over the Isotopes in the nightcap of a doubleheader. Albuquerque was eliminated from postseason play with the loss and division-leading Salt Lake's victory in their game.

Mike Tauchman doubled with one out and scored on Ryan McMahon's homer as the Isotopes led 2-0 after an inning of play.

'TOPES NOTES:
OF Rosell Herrera was placed on the Temporary Inactive List. . . . The Isotopes had both games of a doubleheader go into extra innings for the first time in franchise history tonight and are 7-8 in extra inning contests this season. . . . Tonight's great attendance of 10,142 guaranteed that the Isotopes will not set their worst single season home attendance mark this season. . . . Albuquerque is 12-25 in games decided by one run this season, including 8-10 in one run games at Isotopes Park. . . . Reno's Zach Borenstein homered in both games of the doubleheader. Borenstein's grand slam homer in the nightcap was the fifth grand slam homer the Isotopes have allowed this season. . . . The Pacific Conference division races are the only ones still undecided. While Albuquerque was eliminated tonight and will miss the postseason for the fifth straight season, the El Paso Chihuahuas (AAA Padres) are still in the hunt, a game back of division-leading Salt Lake Bees (AAA Angels) with 5 games left to play. El Paso won a 14 inning 9-8 marathon over the Fresno Grizzlies (AAA Astros) tonight to stay that game back in the Southern Division. In the Northern Division, Fresno's loss made Reno's magic number 2 so the Aces can clinch their division tomorrow night on Isotopes Park turf with a victory and a Fresno loss. . . . Memphis Redbirds (AAA Cardinals) manager Stubby Clapp is the PCL 2017 Manager of the Year. Memphis set a franchise record in wins with their 84th victory on August 21st and currently with five games left to play, Memphis has 89 victories and could tie the 1981 Albuquerque Dukes for the PCL record of 94 wins if they were to win all five remaining games. The runner up for Manager of the Year was Rick Sweet of the Colorado Springs Sky Sox (AAA Brewers). Others getting votes were Greg Gross (Reno), Keith Johnson (Salt Lake) and Tony DeFrancesco (Fresno). . . . Las Vegas 51s (AAA Mets) shortstop Amed Rosario beat out teammate Dominic Smith to win the 2017 PCL Rookie of the Year award. Rosario played in 94 games with the 51s prior to his August 1st promotion to the Mets and hit .328 with 7 homers, 58 RBI, 66 runs scored and 19 stolen bases. Among others receiving votes was Isotopes infielder Ryan McMahon, Round Rock's Willie Calhoun and Memphis' Jack Flaherty. . . . The series concludes Thursday evening. Probables are RHP Yency Almonte (2-1, 5.90) for the Isotopes and the Aces have not yet named a probable.

August 29, 2017 - Isotopes Ppd., Rain

Tuesday evening's contest between the Isotopes and Reno Aces (AAA Diamondbacks) was postponed due to unplayable grounds after a strong rain storm with occasional hail moved through the Albuquerque area in the 5 PM hour and grounds crews worked hard for hours to try to make the field playable. It was Albuquerque's 3rd home postponement (and 4th overall) this season and 26th home postponed game in 15 years of franchise history.

The game is scheduled to be made up as a doubleheader on Wednesday with a 4:35 PM first pitch. No probables for either game were announced.

With the division-leading Salt Lake Bees winning, Albuquerque's tragic number fell to 2. It's very possible by the end of the doubleheader that the Isotopes could be eliminated from going to the postseason. The only team mounting a threat to the Bees is the El Paso Chihuahuas who are in second place in the division 1 game back with a tragic number of 6. El Paso is looking for their third straight division title.

Reno's magic number to clinch the Pacific Conference Northern Division fell to four as second-place Fresno Grizzlies lost.

In Isotopes news, Arizona Fall League rosters were announced and three Isotopes -- P Yency Almonte, P James Farris and P Zach Jemiola -- are going to be playing for the Salt River Rafters in the AFL which starts in October in the Phoenix area.

The Rockies sent P Tyler Anderson to Albuquerque on a MLB rehabilitation assignment. P Nelson Gonzalez was activated from the Temporary Inactive List and P Matt Flemer was placed on the Disabled List. . . . Albuquerque played their final division game of the season and went 27-21 against the division. . . . Isotope starter Tyler Anderson's 1 inning of work was Albuquerque's third shortest starting pitcher outing of the season. . . . Thanks to two Fan Appreciation nights and being the final home weekend series of the season, Albuquerque drew 40,628 in the four game series for a per-game average of 10,157. It was the largest home four-game series attendance of the season. . . . Tonight's game marked the final matchup between the Bees and Isotopes this season. Albuquerque went 9-7 against the Bees in 2017. All-time at Isotopes Park, the Isotopes are 24-32 against the Bees and are 48-59 in all franchise history games against Salt Lake. . . . Another PCL club punched their ticket to the postseason when the Colorado Springs Sky Sox (AAA Brewers) claimed the American Conference Northern Division. The Oklahoma City Dodgers (AAA Dodgers) were eliminated to give the Sky Sox the title. Colorado Springs' title was historic as it was their first division title in 20 seasons when they won it in 1997 as a Rockies affiliate. The Sky Sox face the Memphis Redbirds (AAA Cardinals) in the PCL American Conference Championship Series when the postseason begins. . . . The Isotopes begin their final four-game homestand of the season on Monday evening against the Reno Aces (AAA Diamondbacks). Isotopes starter Ryan Carpenter had a solid outing on his 27th birthday -- 6 hits and 2 runs allowed in 7 innings with 9 strikeouts - but a lack of offense earned him a no decision and the Isotopes went on to lose a heartbreaker in the 9th inning by a score of 3-2. Division-leader Salt Lake also lost so the Isotopes failed to capitalize on an opportunity to tighten up the division race and Albuquerque contniues to remain 2.5 games back of the Bees with 12 games left to play.

Both teams found the scoreboard in the 4th inning. In the Isotopes' half of the inning, Noel Cuevas and Jordan Patterson singled, Tom Murphy walked to load the bases, and Derrik Gibson doubled home a pair of runs.

Sacramento tied it up in their half of the inning on Mac Williamson's RBI single and former Isotope Tim Federowicz's RBI double.

Isotopes reliever Carlos Estevez gave up a Federowicz single, Slade Heathcott walked and Juniel Querecuto was hit by a pitch to load the bases with two outs. The Isotopes took a one run lead in the 3rd inning and made that run stand thanks to Isotope starter Matt Flemer's outstanding outing in a 2-1 victory over the Sacramento River Cats (AAA Giants) on Sunday evening in West Sacramento, California. The Isotopes moved into second place in the division with the win, a game and a half back, since the surging El Paso Chihuahuas joined the Salt Lake Bees atop the division with 14 games left to play.

Raimel Tapia led off the game with a homer and Sacramento's Chris Shaw had a solo homer in the 2nd inning to tie the game at 1-1.

In the 3rd inning, Tapia singled with one out, stole second base and scored what would be the game winning run on Ryan McMahon's single.

Chris Shaw walked to bring home Upton Jr. and Jae-Gyun Hwang followed with a grand-slam homer. Juan Ciriaco singled, Trevor Brown doubled and a wild pitch brought home Ciriaco.
