Sometimes this is a problem because the receiver mutes any subcarrier audio in preference to that coming out of the VCII - but if you aren't subscribed you either get nothing or a "barker" channel. Back in the spring Ron Thompson collected some notes on how to handle this with various receivers. Ron kindly gave me permission to post the latest revision of the list. ===Bob W. __________________________________________________________________ Ron Thompson - Chief Engineer, KLON-FM Long Beach, California (thompson@csulb.edu) 88.1 America's Jazz Station __________________________________________________________________ The following generally require the satellite and transponder to be already tuned in. This is a work in progress. Some steps may be left out. These are mainly hints. They are not always perfect step-by-step directions. HOUSTON TRACKER Use the sub audio menu. HOUSTON TRACKER 8 Punch in "74", and tune in service. HOUSTON TRACKER 10 Some people use the "Favorite Audio Channel" Feature to save KLON in memory. HOUSTON TRACKER 10 PLUS Tune to G5, transponder 2 Go to audio tuning mode Program the left and right subcarrier frequencies with discrete narrow Press store. To Listen: Go to G5, transponder 2 Go to audio tuning mode Press "SA" or "74" Press "cancel" UNIDEN Some units have a "sub audio" button located on the front panel or under a hinged panel. Uniden's phone number (817) 585-3556 ZENITH 7000 AND 8000 These receivers indicate "No other satellite radio" when no other radio is programmed on a particular transponder. Select "Audio Functions" from the main menu. Tune in KLON by adjusting the frequency (or two frequencies for stereo.) Back out of the menu, and save the selection as a new audio service. TOSHIBA Call the help line at (800) 631-3811. Select "4" on their auto-attendant menu. Ask for satellite customer service. They will explain the "audio-tuning" function.
