Futaba 9C Glider Programming.

How can I set up a three-axis electric motorized glider using only a five-channel receiver? I want Butterfly on the throttle stick for landing, but also want motor speed on the throttle stick during launches.

1. First, the glider TYPE should be set to GLID(1FLP) at the parameter menu.

2. The second aileron, AIL-2, should be set to CH5&6, also at the parameter menu.

3. The ailerons are then plugged into channels one and five of the receiver, as usual. The rudder servo is plugged into channel four and the elevator into channel two.

4. You will plug the electronic speed controller into the channel three pins of the receiver. In this example, the motor will be controlled by the throttle stick. When switch A is in the up position, the throttle stick will work the motor; when it’s down, the throttle stick will control landing.

5. PMIX-4 is the essential bit of programming in this setup. It mixes a negative 100% airbrake signal back into itself. PMIX-4 "deactivates" the throttle stick with respect to the channel three pins on the receiver. This mix will only be turned on during landing (SW-A DOWN.)

6. PMIX-5 offsets the output to channel three by about –75% during landing. This keeps the motor turned off during landings (SW-A DOWN.) These changes are shown in yellow on the spreadsheet. (You can use the basic reverse menu to set the throttle to be open or closed in the stick direction you prefer. You will have to reverse the sign of the offset rate in PMIX-5.)

7. Landing with spoilerons (or flapperons) is activated with switch A and the throttle stick using the "Butterfly" mix. These settings are shown in blue.

8. Camber and reflex can be controlled by the right slider, VR-E. Set the auxiliary channels so that channel six is controlled by Vr-E. These settings are shown in green.
