"Tour Diary" From Nicholas Of Shows In March, 2004
Changes traveled overseas on March 17, 2004 to perform two concerts. The first one at Flammenzauber 4 in Heldrungen, Germany. The festival was held in Wasserburg, a castle nestled in the idyllic setting of this small village. Their performance was to a very enthusiastic and gracious audience.
Opening the evening of March 20 was a wonderful performance by In Gowan Ring which held the audience captivated by beautiful melodies and a very strong, charismatic show. Changes followed, opening with the rousing "Fire of Life" and their medley of sea-chanteys. They were later joined by the artistry of BEirth (of In Gowan Ring) for four songs on recorder, guitar and drum. Markus Wolff of Waldteufel, who performed a brilliant concert during the previous nights festivities, joined Changes for the last song of their regular set, "Twilight of the West". He provided a great drum backup that gave the song that extra "punch". Ostara was next on the bill to close out the evening with another magnificent performance.
Incidentally, in addition to Waldteufel on the previous night were three excellent performances: Mercydesign, Echo West and Axon Neuron/Vagwa. All were great examples of audio-visual magic.
On the following day (March 21), Changes traveled by train to the beautiful city of Vienna, Austria. They had a few days to familiarize themselves with the city and though the weather was poor for all but their first day there, their spirits werent dampened. Even in bad weather the city was fantastic. On Wednesday, March 24, they played their second concert at a club called "The Monastery" in Vienna. The newly decorated hall was a super venue in which to perform. They were joined by their host, Albin Julius, with great percussion work on several songs. Again, the enthusiasm and fervor of the marvelous audience made it a pleasure to perform there.
Just when it seemed they were getting used to the time differential, it was time to return home. They returned to the states the following day. However, not without some great and lasting memories. Thanks to all the fine people hosting and attending these events!
