This is the most important small-scale live steam event in the US. Over 200 steam enthusiasts bring their locomotives and run around the clock for a week. Attendees come from all over the world -- US, UK, Europe, Japan, Australia, the Caribbean.  Workshops cover topics such as scratchbuilding and kitbashing, radio control, fuel choice, machining, layout planning, etc. There is a "flea market" for buying and selling used items, model steamboat operation in the pool, a festive dinner, and general exhilaration at every moment.  Extracurricular events include tours of area attractions, a railroad-related movie night, a "company" brass band concert, and more.

Seminars cover a wide range of topics such as buying used locomotives, alcohol firing, machine work, painting and lining, geared locos, etc.  Informal chat sessions throughout the week provide continuous learning opportunities.

Diamondhead Mississippi is approx. 1 hour drive east from New Orleans. Early reservations are strongly recommended, as the area hotels typically sell out almost a year in advance.  Participants often arrive earlier in the week, so steam tracks are usually set up on Monday or Tuesday before the event.  Here's your chance to spend a full week steaming with a great group of people!

Photos of the 2008 event are at John Fuller's site.  Thanks to all the steam-powered photographers!
