BUDAPEST

[Again, no photos in from this location yet]

Thursday, November 17: Late morning, Robert, Nathalie and I boarded the train from Vienna for our three hour journey to the city of Budapest. We were pleased to meet one of our hosts, Attila (ACTUS), at the Budapest train station. Enough cannot be said about this fine gentleman. He was very enthusiastic about us performing there and did his best to make us feel welcome.

This was one of the cities, of course, that we were to spend only one day (although we did once again pass through quickly on our return from Russia since we flew back to the States from there but more about that later), which was unfortunate for I would liked to have seen more of the city, especially the Buda side. I was previously unaware that there were two parts to Budapest, one on each side of the Danube River. The Buda side and the Pest side. The Buda side is a more affluent side than the Pest side. The Pest side was where our lodging and performance was, and since we were there only one day we weren’t able to explore the other side. Attila did take us to a very beautiful area overlooking the Danube where we could see the river's edge of both parts of the city.

One very notable highlight was the dinner that we were treated to before the performance. It was positively magnificent. Hungarian goulash, duck and pasta in a fine sauce with excellent wine. Balazs, our other host joined us for dinner and it was again a very warm and welcome time among friends.

The opening group, The Moon and the Nightspirit, was performing live for the first time this night and they were absolutely fantastic. It was an honor and pleasure to have been present to enjoy their premier performance.
